Nordion Energi joins the e-NG Coalition: Strengthening the Coalition’s Infrastructure Expertise Across Renewable Gas, Hydrogen, and Energy System Integration

The e-NG Coalition is pleased to welcome Nordion Energi as a new Member, further strengthening the Coalition’s growing network of companies working to accelerate the deployment of electric Natural Gas (e-NG) and advance the development of a net-zero energy system.

Based in Sweden, Nordion Energi is one of the leading energy infrastructure companies in the Nordic region. Through its gas transmission and distribution networks, the company plays a central role in enabling the transition toward a more integrated and sustainable energy system, while supporting the large-scale deployment of renewable and low-carbon energy solutions.

Nordion Energi is actively involved in several major infrastructure initiatives spanning hydrogen, renewable gases, and carbon management. Among its flagship projects is the Nordic Hydrogen Route, a cross-border collaboration with Gasgrid Finland designed to establish large-scale hydrogen infrastructure across northern Sweden and Finland. The project aims to support industrial decarbonization, strengthen regional energy security, and accelerate the development of a competitive hydrogen economy in Northern Europe. The project has been recognized by the European Commission as Projects of Common Interest(PCI), highlighting the strategic importance for Europe's energy transition and infrastructure development.

"We are happy to become a member of the e-NG coalition. E-NG has potential to play an important role in the transition to a greener and more resilient energy system. Nordion Energi aims to be an enabler of that transition, as a developer of new CCUS and hydrogen infrastructure, and as TSO of the Swedish gas grid with an ambitious agenda to distribute 100% green energy. We are looking forward to advance the development of e-NG together with like-minded companies within the Coalition". Wilhelm Schånberg, Business Unit Manager Gas Grid at Nordion Energi.

Beyond hydrogen infrastructure, Nordion Energi is advancing initiatives related to liquefied biogas, carbon capture, transport and storage infrastructure, and the broader integration of green gases into future energy systems. The company has stated its ambition to contribute to the transition toward 100% green energy through close collaboration with industry partners and public stakeholders.

As renewable methane, hydrogen, and carbon management become increasingly interconnected components of the energy transition, infrastructure will play a decisive role in enabling market growth, cross-border energy flows, and long-term system resilience. Nordion Energi’s expertise in network development and large-scale energy infrastructure brings valuable experience to the Coalition and complements ongoing efforts to strengthen the role of renewable gases in Europe's decarbonization pathway.

"We are delighted to welcome Nordion Energi to the e-NG Coalition. Their experience in developing energy infrastructure, combined with their strong engagement in hydrogen, renewable gases, and carbon management projects, reinforces the Coalition’s mission to accelerate the deployment of scalable and practical solutions for the energy transition." Rafik Ammar, e-NG Coalition Policy Director.

The addition of Nordion Energi reflects the continued expansion of the e-NG Coalition across the renewable gas value chain and reinforces the Coalition’s commitment to fostering collaboration between infrastructure operators, technology providers, producers, and energy market participants.

Thee-NG Coalition looks forward to working closely with Nordion Energi to support the development of renewable methane markets, strengthen regulatory frameworks, and advance the infrastructure solutions needed to deliver a resilient, secure, and net-zero energy future.
